Life Story/Memoir Writing

Share the Memories and Experiences that Shaped Your Life

Memoir writing helps to develop a sense of self and the ability to connect to others and share insights through personal history.  One of the markers of a well-lived life is the stories, experiences and memories that are told, retold and remembered through life.  These stories leave a legacy of living history.  But, if the stories aren’t recorded, they may get lost or forgotten.  When they are written with accuracy, in the voice and style of the storyteller, then the stories remain alive and vibrant for generations to come.

The activity of capturing life stories can bring enjoyment, reawaken dormant interests, offer purposeful activity and hone cognitive skills.  Writing also enhances the immune system and assists the mind with recalling, analyzing and reasoning skills as well as providing companionship,

One of the many benefits of telling your story is that you learn more about yourself.  The very process requires considering what you truly believe, what matters most and what the sum of life’s experiences has taught you.

Useful techniques will be offered to help you capture those important and key events of your life.  You will have an opportunity to self-explore how these events affected your life, and your way of thinking. The effective use of list making, memoir prompts and photos will be presented in this workshop.

This is an excellent workshop for anyone who wants to review their past and see how it relates to their present life.
